Creative Workshops
&
Projects
Integral to any of the services listed below are consultant-client communication and collaboration in order to tailor projects in scope and design to meet client needs.
Starter Project
Perfect for introducing new clients to the general True Voices process and its various possibilities, a Starter Project includes:
Step 1:
One project design consultation meeting with client/project contact to determine the thematic focus of and attendees for the live poem writing session.
Step 2:
Social media packet including a template and language for inviting and preparing attendees.
Step 3:
One consultant-facilitated, live Creative Workshop session (approx. 1 hour, f2f or virtual) which includes:
- A general session outline provided to the project contact
- An introduction to the True Voice community-generated poetry process
- Contextualizing and a short discussion to set up the client’s thematic-focus
- During the session, attendees, with the help of the consultant, will produce one or more community-generated poems connected to the thematic focus
- The community-generated poems – titled, formatted, and finalized including the poets’ names will be sent to the project contact person within 5 business days of the live session.
Additional Services
Follow up Facilitation is a service that may be added to the Starter Project: Consultant (f2f or virtually) facilitates added time or an additional Creative Workshop session at a different time focused on discussion of and reflection on the poems produced in order to help the client identify areas of focus and/or action plans.
Combination Projects
Perfect for using the introductory information and community-building of a Starter Project to dovetail into a Layered Project, a Combination Project includes:
All the content of a Starter Project listed above as well as all the content of a Tier 1 of 2 project listed below.
This combination primes participants for the Layered/Multi-Layered Project experience, encourages buy-in and ultimately allows for deeper exploration of key themes within the Tier 1 or 2 project.
The larger Tier 1 and 2 projects detailed below build on the True Voices community-generated process by adding not only layers of participants but also depth and type of information gathered, as well as the scope of what is ultimately created together.
Tier 1 Layered Project:
Step 1:
2-3 project design meetings with the consultant and the project contact(s) to determine project focus, goals, participants, and communication/buy-in strategies
Step 2:
One consultant-crafted questionnaire of creative writing prompts to produce the “raw material” for the poetry writing session. Can be shared hard-copy or via Google Forms depending on the project scope.
Step 3:
Direction on approaches and timelines for sharing, encouraging engagement, and collecting the questionnaires. Anonymity is an important aspect of collecting the raw material/questionnaire responses and determining ways to communicate and maintain that will be part of the project design.
Step 4:
Raw material management is determined by the specifics of the project design.
Step 5:
Social media packet including a template and language for inviting and preparing attendees.
Step 6:
Facilitation of one live 2-4 hour Creative Workshop session creating poetry from the collected raw material (i.e. the questionnaire responses).
Additional Information
Tier 1 projects can be adapted to a virtual setting, so that consultant facilitation of poetry-writing sessions may be conducted virtually or face to face.
Additional Materials
Tier 1 Project in a Box material (see below) for the poem writing activity session(s).
Additional Services
Follow-up Facilitation is a service that may be added to a Tier 1 Project: Consultant facilitates (f2f or virtually) an additional session focused on discussion of and reflection on the poems produced in order to help the client identify areas of focus and/or action plans.
Tier 2 Multi-Layered Project
The multi-layered project expands the focus on participants and stakeholders in order to deepen both what is heard (raw material), created (poems), and learned (follow-up).
Step 1:
4-6 project design meetings with the consultant and the project contact(s) to determine project focus, goals, a combination of participants, and communication/buy-in strategies
Step 2:
Two or more consultant-crafted questionnaires tailored to different groups of participants/stakeholders in order to bring in more varied and “slice-able” raw material.
Step 6:
Facilitation of 2 or more 2-4 hour live Creative Workshop sessions, with different groups of stakeholders, creating poetry from the collected raw material (i.e. the questionnaire responses).
Additional Information
Tier 2 projects can be adapted to a virtual setting, so that consultant facilitation of poetry-writing Creative Workshop sessions may be conducted virtually or face to face.
Additional Materials
Tier 2 Project in a Box material (see below) for the poem writing activity session(s).
Additional Services
Follow-up Facilitation is a service that may be added to a Tier 2 Project: Consultant (f2f or virtually) facilitates one or more additional sessions focused on discussion of and reflection on the poems produced in order to help the client identify areas of focus and/or action plans.
Other/Related Services:
The multi-layered project expands the focus on participants and stakeholders in order to deepen both what is heard (raw material), created (poems), and learned (follow-up).
Project in a Box Materials
(differences for Tier 1 vs. Tier 2 = quantities):
- Directions/outline for the poem writing session
- Activity materials: highlighters, sticky notes, pens, large notepads (can forego if the client plans to supply)
- The original list of prompts
- Collected raw material organized by project design – e.g. aggregated by prompt or by general respondent groups, etc.
- Other facilitation materials determined by the specific project design
Follow up Facilitation
Consultant (f2f or virtually) facilitates an additional session in Tier 1 or 2 project or, alternatively, time could be added to the Starter Project session in order to facilitate discussion of and reflection on the poems produced in order to help the client identify areas of focus/action plans
Reflection “Check-ins”
Consultant facilitates discussion/reflection using the original community-generated poems in order to identify progress and/or renew momentum.
Focus Groups
Aspects of the True Voices process can be implemented in a focus group setting within or as part of another project. The focus groups can be facilitated with an organization’s internal stakeholders or external clients.
Family Workshops
Families have used the True Voices process to become closer and learn more about one another. In addition, our projects have created beautiful commemorative and collaborative poems to honor a loved one or to celebrate milestones such as a birthday, graduation, wedding, or anniversary. Each Family Workshop is unique. Contact our consultant using the “Get Started” link to begin designing one that will work for yours.
